The Biggest and the exceptionals......

The longest chain of shoes consisted of 24,962 shoes and was achieved by The Shoeman Water Projects at Stankowski Field at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA on 7 May 2011.

The largest glove measures 2.82 m (9 ft 3 in) tall and 93 cm (3 ft) wide and was created by Held GmbH (Germany). It was presented and measured in Burgberg, Germany, on 20 April 2011.

The glove is an outsized version of the TITAN motorcycle glove, article no 2910, colour 14 black/white. The hand size of the glove is 56 (normal size 9). It took 128 hours to manufacture the glove.

The largest modelling balloon sculpture measures 6.76 m (22 ft 2 in) long and 13.77 m (45 ft 2 in) wide and consist of 2,975 balloons and was created by Adam Lee (USA). It was presented and measured at the Grand Mound Great Wolf Lodge, Washington, USA, on 6 October 2011.


The fastest crossing of the Sahara desert by bicycle was 13 days 5 hours 50 minutes and 14 seconds by Reza Pakravan (Iran) from 4 March to 17 March 2011. He set out on 4 March at 30° 00' 5" N and 2° 57' 2" E in Algeria and completed his journey at 17° 59' 2" N and 30° 59' 4" E, in Sudan on 17 March 2011.The total distance cycled was 1,734 km (1,083.85 mi).


The largest caricature is 91.35 m (299 ft 8.45 in) in length and 60.90 m (199 ft 9.63 in) in width, measuring 631.20 m² (6,794 ft² 21.6 in²) and was drawn by Federico Delgado Heredia a.k.a Fede Heredia (Uruguay) at the Estadio Centenario football stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 28 June 2011. The caricature is of Diego Forlan the Uruguayan footballer. Federico Delgado Heredia took approx 5 hours 50 minutes to complete the caricature and used 60 litres (13.2 UK gal; 15.85 US gal) of black paint.


The longest cucumber measured 119.38 cm (47 in) and was grown by Clare Pearce (UK) and measured in Peterborough, UK, in August 2010.
The specimen was an Armenian cucumber, Cucumis melo flexosus.

The largest ball point pen measures 5.5 m (18 ft 0.53 in) long and weighs 37.23 kg (82.08 lb 1.24 oz). The pen was made by Acharya Makunuri Srinivasa (India) and was presented and measured in Hyderabad, India, on 24 April 2011. The pen is engraved with scenes from Indian mythology.
The most people apple bobbing is 357 and was achieved by the Ontario Apple Growers (Canada) at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 21 February 2011. One participant succeeded in bobbing all 10 apples within 32 seconds!

The most people playing parachute is 3,520 with 176 parachutes and was achieved by children from the Gaza Strip, at the Khan Younis Stadium, Gaza, on 30 June 2011.

The most people dressed as sunflowers is 229 and was achieved by Thorndown Community Infant School and Thorndown Community Junior School (both UK) in St. Ives, UK, on 27 May 2011.

The largest gathering of people wearing only underwear was achieved by 2,270 participants (all USA) at the Utah Undie Run in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, on 24 September 2011.

The largest piggy back race involved 320 participants and was achieved by Dundee WestFest (UK), in Dundee, UK, on 19 June 2011. The fastest runner and piggy were Dominic Venditozzi and his six year old daughter Lola, crossing the finish line in a time of 15.65 sec.

The longest duration juggling three objects blindfolded is 6 minutes and 29 seconds and was achieved by Niels Duinker (Netherlands) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 11 August 2011.


The largest human mattress dominoes was achieved by 550 participants (all Belgium) at an event organised by Margareta Maria Instituut Kortemark in Kortemark, Belgium, on 7 April 2011.
